Communication is a two way process which involves the sender and the receiver. The sender wh0 has the idea will encode it..choose and appropriate medium to transfer it and transfer it to the receiver. If the receiver gets the same idea in the same spirit, the communication is said to be successful. However in our everyday life we find that people do make communication mistakes either unknowingly or purposely, in this blog we will talk about those mistakes and also lessons learnt.

There are several examples of companies getting tangled up with bad translations of products due to the word "mist". We had "Irish Mist" (an alcoholic drink), "Mist Stick" (a curling iron from Clairol) and "Silver Mist" (Rolls Royce car) all flopping as "mist" in German means dung/manure. Fancy a glass of Irish dung?
In July 2001, the pharmaceutical corporation, Eli Lilly sent a mass email to
all the users of its anti-depressant Prozac. Unfortunately the writer of the
mail didn’t use the ‘bcc’ function on email to hide the addressees from
each other. In seconds Lilly had published its entire mailing list of Prozac
users.
